Totally gorgeous and thoroughly sorted Porsche 944 S2 offered for sale.

Presented in classic and unmarked Guards Red paintwork and Linen Cloth/vinyl interior all in stunning condition throughout.

This is a 6 keeper car each of whom owned the car for a good period of time and kept the car properly maintained with a mix of main dealer and independent servicing (aside from a period in dry storage when the car was still taken for an annual MOT). A total of 25 MOT Certificates from 1995 to present are included with the substantial history and paperwork file along with 28 Vehicle Tax discs from 1997 to 2014.

All original handbooks are present with the car in the beautiful soft feel leather wallet Porsche supplied back then. This includes the stamped Maintenance Book and Driver’s Manual (note you get a driver’s manual rather than an owner’s manual with a Porsche 944 S2) and the official Porsche immobiliser booklet and code. Both keys and the locking wheel nut key are all present and correct.

The 944 S2 arrived on the scene in 1989, boasting a three litre capacity, 16 valves and a 208bhp power output. Sharing the Turbo's smooth front end (the performance of which it nearly matched) and available as a coupe or cabriolet, the 944 S2 ran until the axe fell on the 944 range in 1992. In many ways the most desirable of all 944 models, the S2 is viewed by many as the best compromise between performance and practicality and set a standard that few contemporary (and many modern) coupes can approach. It certainly performs well on modern roads and traffic conditions and is revelatory on twisty A and B-roads.

First registered on 1st August 1990 to take advantage of the new ‘H’ plate designation, the car was then taken care of by the supplying dealer Heddell & Deeks of Ferndown Dorset with servicing as follows:

  • 08/11/90 - 3697 miles
  • 13/11/91 - 8353 miles
  • 28/02/92 - 13264 miles
  • 23/11/92 - 24394 miles (including brake fluid and coolant change)
  • 02/07/93 - 35004 miles

Heddell & Deeks became Chapelgate at this point and serviced the car again in January 1995 at 48243 miles (with an interim visit to Cambridge Porsche on 19th August 1994 at 42334 miles to include a brake fluid, coolant and cambelt change).

Staying in the Bournemouth area, Meridien Majestic took up servicing in August 1995 and February 1996 at 57478 miles and 60392 miles respectively.

Dick Lovett completed the list of highly respected service centres caring for this cosseted 944 S2 for the first 7 years and 70K miles, with visits in March of 1997 and 1998 at 65752 miles and 71185 miles.

Between 1998 and 2016 the car made regular visits to Dick Lovett and other local specialists and new battery, steering rack, brake pads, clutch, tyres etc. were fitted and the car continued to have an MOT and be taxed for use but was largely dry stored and accumulated only 15K miles in those 17 years.

In May 2016 Silvertune Porsche Specialists in Bournemouth serviced the car with brake fluid and coolant change and in December 2018 it found its way to Steve Bull Specialist Cars in Devizes and was offered for sale at 88056 miles.

The most recent keeper of H656 NFX has owned a number of 944s and recognised the potential of this car purchasing it from Steve Bull but commissioning a good deal of work in the process to make this a thoroughly sorted and most satisfying example to drive.

The work included (but not limited to); Full service to include spark plugs, drive belts, oil, air and fuel filter, cambelt, chain guides, water pump, coolant, header tank, brake fluid and precautionary head gasket change. New bonnet struts, stone foils, heater trims, replacement speakers, new clock, bonnet badge and gear lever gaiter tidied up the minor cosmetics required and replaced items often found cracked and broken.

Finally, new front springs, a short shift gear linkage and complete clutch assembly were installed.

Suffice to say the total expenditure to purchase and commission this work was no expense spared to get it totally correct and was in excess of the current asking price.

More recently in February and March 2020 Silvertune Porsche have serviced the car with another brake fluid change (after replacement of various brake hoses and gaiters) and a fresh MOT applied with no advisories. Further work has since been carried out on the steering rack and sunroof operation and seals which works perfectly. This at 90171 and 90549 miles and the car still shows less than 91000 on the odometer.

This fantastic example of the 944 S2 is good to go and ready for the next owner to use and enjoy. If you drive a great example of a 944 S2 you will wonder why you ever contemplated anything newer.
