Classic Modern Cars are delighted to offer this super condition BMW 323i SE Saloon with the highly desirable specification of Manual Gearbox combined with Sports Suspension and Sports Steering Wheel. In Titanium Silver paintwork with the very rare Titan Red leather interior.
First registered in 1999 this example has covered only 82K miles in the hands of 2 careful owners, the most recent of which took delivery in 2000 when the car was less than a year old.
With a silky smooth six-cylinder 2.5 litre petrol engine, there is a full service history and a large file of paperwork to back-up mileage and proper maintenance.
The 323i in SE specification came very well equipped, including but not limited to :
Add to this the optionally specified Sports Suspension (S226) and you have a very well equipped and driver focused car.
This particular example was tastefully specified by the first keeper in Titanium Silver Metallic Paint (code 354) combined with Montana Leather in Tanin Red (code N6TD) making for a striking and rare combination.
There is comprehensive documentation which includes the Owner Handbook (both for the car and BMW Business Radio and along with the Radio Code) and a booklet of all European BMW Service Centres all in the original black BMW embossed wallet.
There are two working remote keys and the rarely available valet key making the full set.
Velour floor mats and front armrest adds to the interior comfort and ambience along with Cruise Control. The S785A White Indicator Light Package was added to the car later for a more modern look. Included are pictures of the car from 2001 prior to this change, this being the only modification on an otherwise unmolested example of the E46.
The Smoker Package was also specified though the car has never seen a smoker inside but this does provide for a useful and functional 12V power socket. The First-Aid Kit is unused and intact under the front passenger seat and the rechargeable torch in its rightful place in the glovebox. A factory-fitted towbar has never been used (remembering the first of the only two owners kept the car for less than a year). The towbar fittings live unobtrusively in the special compartment in the boot alongside the unused space saver spare wheel, fire extinguisher and warning triangle.
Manufactured in February 1999 the vehicle was first registered in the UK on 30th March 1999 to a lady owner near Reading Berkshire. Less than one year later the car was transferred to it next, and to date only other keeper.
BMW operate a variable service programme based on mileage and use alternating between Oil and Inspection (I and II) Services. This car has been maintained at both BMW main dealer and specialist service centres as follows ;
A Vehicle Health Check was carried out at North Oxford BMW (ALL GREEN / GOOD) on Tyres, Wheels, Brake Discs and Pads, Leaks and Fluid Levels, Exhaust, Driveshafts, Steering and Suspension, Lights, Washers/Wipers.
Fresh MOT applied and valid until 26th October 2021.
Four new BMW Approved Dunlop tyres have been fitted. The car is ready for the road and the next keeper to enjoy.
BMW launched the E46 3-Series saloon in November 1997 with first deliveries in April 1998. The body shell of the E46 was claimed by BMW to be 70% more rigid than its E36 predecessor with aluminium used for an increased quantity of suspension components.
Here is the 170bhp 2.5-litre 323i SE Saloon featuring the silky-smooth straight six-cylinder engine that, despite the increasing prevalence of V8 and V12 engines, still represent something of a trademark for BMW. The Sports pack suspension offered as an option on the saloon is also specified and so we have here a very driver focused car with manual gearbox and sports leather steering wheel.
Equipment levels are high, including twin front, side and head airbags, a remote control alarm, alloy wheels and fully automatic air-conditioning climate control.
Driving impressions are such that at first it doesn't feel as if you're travelling that fast - a deceptive impression as it happens: the 170 bhp 323i is deceptively quick, its 2.5-litre engine almost whisper quiet but capable of getting to 60mph in less than eight seconds and onto 145 mph where allowed. It's not only about sheer speed however, this car flatters your driving without overtly doing so thanks to two clever features - Automatic Stability Control + Traction (ASC+T) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC).
This is still a great car to hustle along. The sports suspension and communicative steering, a BMW trademark, keeps you perfectly in touch with the road surface. Against period opposition BMW 3-Series is the one you wanted then and now.
