Google Review : "In the end I came away with a car that's just perfect for me. I will be keeping a keen eye on the cars they have in the future."
Exceptionally well maintained and cared for 1994 Type 8B Audi Coupe with 2.6 V6 fuel-injected engine and manual gearbox, offering a compelling and entertaining drive. Well able to keep pace with and provide safety and comfort in modern traffic and still looking decidedly sharp.
Extremely straight with almost perfect bodywork and paint. The service history as you would hope to see and with cam belt change (with water pump, thermostat, belts, brake discs) less than 10K miles ago and with a further major service (plugs, filters, coolant, gearbox oil) at 85K miles
Inspected and serviced again by ourselves prior to sale at the very low 86K miles.
With sports front seats tastefully trimmed in blue Jacquard Satin woven fabric and sports suspension combined with leather sports steering wheel and the manual transmission (with leather gear-knob of course) this vehicle clearly shows its sporting intent, further enhanced by the additional VDO gauges. But of course always with the usual safety features, such as ABS, that Audi were so often first to market with in terms of their fitment across a range.
There is a full-size unused spare alloy wheel. All four fitted alloys have been professionally refurbished and brand new Pirelli Cinturato P1 tyres fitted to the front driven wheels. New wiper blades have been fitted front and rear.
L467BPF has had a full inspection and service in our workshop, to include the often neglected fuel and pollen filters. The correct Bosch S4 battery has been tested OK.
An electric slide and tilt sunroof completes the luxury appointments along with the original period Blaupunkt Radio Cassette.
History
Introduction :
If ever a manufacturer had set itself a tough task to follow it was Audi. The legendary quattro Turbo and the Coupe models that basked in its reflected glory had served Audi famously during the eighties, but come the end of the decade were looking both literally and figuratively somewhat square.
Despite the fact that the replacement series coupe were initially something of a disappointment (according to the press if not the discerning owners), Audi persevered and refined the model gradually and now of course they are extremely sought after and still look current and modern on the road today.
History
Cereal-box car design may have been all the rage in 1979 when the previous generation of Audi coupes were designed, but come 1989, customers were after shapes a little more organic. With sleek sporting rivals like the Vauxhall Calibra and Nissan 200SX arriving on the market, the Audi Coupe was starting to look distinctly square. The arrival of the B3 series based car in 1989 changed all that. Unlike the B2 Coupe before it, which from the mid-point forward was virtually indistinguishable from the 90 saloon, the hatchback B3 Coupe shared very little sheet metal with the equivalent 90 saloon. Similarly, it was very different from its coupe predecessor. All the body panels were fully galvanized for rust prevention with a 10 Year warranty offered when new. But with the 136bhp 2.3-litre 10-valve and the 113bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine carried over from the previous generation cars it was a bit underpowered for the weight of the car.
To alleviate that, an efficient 150bhp 2.6-litre V6 engine as we offer for sale here was introduced which coincided with the introduction of the B4 based Coupe series, the most obvious difference being the facelifted bonnet and front grille which now featured a chrome surround. This model survived until Audi axed the Coupe in 1996. The engine is super smooth and pulls really well and is matched perfectly to the five speed manual gearbox. It keeps up with and often surprises modern traffic. The Audi Coupe models feel extremely solid and well built and also feel that way to drive. The seat position is low and the car's waistline is set high. The instrument binnacle is as logical and well designed as we have come to expect from Audi with a clear set of dials and a row of supplementary VDO gauges set lower down on the centre console. Rear seat space is very good for a coupe and access is easy.
You will never feel short changed when you drop into a sublime interior that still looks and feels modern and very classy today. Certainly a modern classic that would serve well whether as a daily to be different or a fun weekend car.
The Audi Coupe (and especially this example) will certainly not disappoint if you have an eye for quality and want something that feels well tied down and will still do so another five years down the road.
A well looked after example such as this is a seductive proposition. The shape still looks good and the drive is more than good.
