Absolutely stunning low mileage and untouched B3 Audi 80 Sport Edition. Last of the line B3 model in rare Cerise Metallic with factory-fit Kamei body kit.

First registered and pre delivery inspected by Hollis Motors Audi dealer in Dover, Kent 25th August 1991.

Reported as being garaged its whole life which is consistent with the preserved condition of the factory paintwork and underside in superb condition along with original front and rear supplying dealer plates and rear window decal. A dealer decal is also present on both front wings with coachlines still in place. Audi book pack with all manuals and service booklet, spare alloy and toolkit.

To find a B3 model such as this is extremely rare and this is probably the most original example available for sale today and as a bonus this is a rare end of line 'Sport Edition' complete with factory-fitted body kit and finished in Cerise Metallic paintwork. Kamei front and rear factory fitted under bumper spoilers. Audi Sport rear boot spoiler. Colour coded wing mirrors and door handles. Original untouched Speedline alloy wheels. Audi sports seats in Jacquard Satin cloth. Audi Sport VDO gauges for Oil Temperature, Oil Pressure and Voltage. Leather Nardi Steering wheel, Audi leather gear knob. Tilt and Slide Sunroof. Sport Edition plaque mounted on dashboard.

The first owner was Hollis Motors Audi dealer who kept the car for 3 months as a dealer demo. It was the Sales Manager’s car. It was then sold to its first private owner in Dover, Kent, who owned the car until August 1995 when it was then traded back into the supplying dealer. The same Sales Manager decided to buy it as his own personal car as he had been looking after the customer and was very fond of it. Sadly in 1997 he died suddenly. The family simply laid the car up in the garage at the family home. There it stayed until being purchased by its third owner again in Dover in 2013 and who set about a light recommission as detailed below.

The car had been kept in a warm garage and time had essentially stood still. For the last 6 years it has covered just over 1500 miles being used every other weekend by the most recent owner.

Servicing and Maintenance

The accompanying ring binder of bills contains an MOT history that dates back to 1993 to 1998 at 32650 miles. The service book details 7 entries with a paperwork record for each service by the dealer up to 32658 in 1996. The recommission involved a major service and belts, new tyres, and a genuine new fuel tank as the fuel had gone stale. It also received new brake discs and pads all round with a fluid change and rocker cover gaskets.

The underside is in superb condition with needless to say no welding or corrosion. All documentation relating to Hollis Motors Audi dealer servicing is present in the file along with MOTs

The B3 Audi 80

An Audi of this vintage is for someone who really appreciates the nature of it, the build quality is class leading, the longevity of the materials used in the manufacturing process (such as a fully galvanized body) are absolute top quality, a very well-engineered package and a unique driving experience. The mechanicals in this model are very robust and sweet running and this with such a very low mileage the engine has lots of power and feels barely run-in, the engine bay presents as new. Finding one today is difficult — and locating an unmodified example is near impossible.

The 1990s all-business cabin is pure German functional luxury. The interior also contains a trio of gauges made by VDO that were common to the era’s autobahn missiles. It is safe to say that the 80 2.0E was conceived at a time when Audi was struggling to find its identity — the brand was still buzzing from its domination of the World Rally Championship, but it was also trying to make inroads into the luxury-car market. Of this existential struggle, there is no better example than the 80 and 90 models.

The 2.0E motronic fuel injected engine was paired with front-wheel drive, and a five-speed manual transmission. Developing 115 bhp, it does not sound much however this car really flies, it feels like a GTi. The four-cylinder demands that you keep the tachometer needle aimed high for press on thrills,
